But the gist of the new taxscam and it is a scam, is that the RepubliCONs wanted a positive reaction from the working class ASAP. So part of the scam was rigging the witholding tables that employers and payroll services use to calculate how much Federal Income Tax to withhold on each paycheck. Well Trump and Mnuchin rigged the tables so less dollars were withheld making everyones net paycheck bigger than they should have been. The Cons goal was to get a positive short term reaction "these tax cuts are great". But the rigging of the withholding tables created a false benefit. The reality is employers weren't withholding enough Federal Income tax. Now most working class taxpayers have underpaid and will either owe money or get a smaller refund than they're used to. The Trump regime only cares about short term, they could care less about the long term. Just ask the children and babies that were kidnapped at the Southern border. They may never see their parents and family again. The Democrats will be trying to fix the atrocities, but it may be an impossible job. Thousands of children and babies were kidnapped from their parents. Now parents are missing, babies are lost and children may never be reunited with their moms and fathers. For 2 years the RepubliCON led Congress failed to do any oversight of the very inhumane Sessions/Trump zero tolerance policy. The Dems will begin the oversight. Hearings will be held. The Dems will want to know when the inhumane practice of kidnapping kids from the parents began. The Dems will want to find missing parents and children so they can be reunited. It will be a very difficult task. Especially considering Trump and the RepubliCONS don't care and don't have a humane bone in their bodies.
