Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor appeared for a public speech at the American Constitution Society on Thursday, and showered a conservative coworker with praise.

She took the opportunity to speak highly of Justice Clarence Thomas, her conservative colleague.

Sotomayor called Thomas her "friend" and spoke at length about his "kindness" and "care" for the people in the court.

"I suspect I have probably disagreed with him more than with any other justice, that we have not joined each other's opinions more than anybody else," said Sotomayor. "He is a man who cares deeply about the court as an institution, about the people who work there."

"I think we share a common understanding about people and kindness toward them," she added. "That's why I can be friends with him and still continue our daily battle over our difference of opinions in cases."

More importantly he would have recused himself from ruling on any cases involving his wife and the Jan. 6th insurrection. He now needs to resign. But he won't, because he doesn't care about the credibility of the SCOTUS,  These corrupt justice are incapable of feeling embarrassed.

In 2021, Donald Trump asked the Supreme Court to block the turnover of documents to the January 6 House Select Committee, after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit said the documents were vital to investigators.

On January 19, 2022, the Supreme Court published its ruling showing only Justice Thomas had approved of the former president's request.

The ruling stated that: "The application for stay of mandate and injunction pending review presented to THE CHIEF JUSTICE and by him referred to the Court is denied." It later states "JUSTICE THOMAS would grant the application."

Justice Thomas' vote is of renewed interest after recent reports that his wife, Ginni Thomas, sent emails to Trump's campaign lawyer Eastman.

The emails were obtained by the January 6 panel investigating the U.S. Capitol attacks.

No further details have been released about the correspondence between Eastman and Thomas, although their reported existence is seen as significant in light of her husband's approval of the Trump injunction.

Eastman is alleged to have played a key part in trying to pressure Pence to not certify the 2020 election results in Congress on January 6, despite knowing such a tactic would be illegal.

The Trump lawyer was ordered in June 2022 to hand over emails containing evidence of a likely crime to the House Select Committee; Eastman had previously sought to prevent the committee from obtaining documents.

It was also reported in March 2022 that Ginni Thomas sent numerous messages to Trump's chief of staff Mark Meadows between the 2020 election and January 6, 2021, promoting disproven QAnon theories about widespread voter fraud.

One such belief was that Trump watermarked mail-in ballots prior to the election in order to find evidence of fraud.

Hillary was an underclassmen while Thomas was not - meaning they were unlikely to even encounter each other. The kicker is that Thomas has said he was a liberal back then, he only turned conservative later in life.
