No. I had the two months off. It was not worth the 10 months of eating shit.

My wife splits lesson plan duties with other teachers so they are all teaching the same thing at the same time. That and grading papers are done during “planning periods” that are part of the school day. She does not coach.

She leaves for work and returns from work within 8 hours.

She has ample sick, personal days.

Not sure why you were doing lesson plans for multiple grades and grading papers on your own time.

Not sure.

Your wife probably teaches elementary. That's not much work.

You can't do lesson plans and grade 6 classes of papers in 45 minutes. The teachers that have taught for years have it on autopilot though.

Wake up this morning and see we almost hit five (5) pages.  This bitch might hit 10x that by the end of July.

I see some of you asked me some questions.  I'm going to be spending the rest of the morning with the fam.  But I'll be sure to go back through and respond later today.

Enjoy your Saturday.   :cheers

Diablo before I quit school (long story but quit two classes short of graduating) I was actually an Education major (Social Studies specialization) and while I actually enjoyed the education classes (like the history and political science classes...) when I started actually getting into the classroom I absolutely hated it.  Part of it was probably the subject matter (believe it or not, with my rambling posting style, keeping a discussion on topic isn't my strong suit...) but I was also inspired by a history teacher from high school that at one point had us reading daily from the Communist Manifesto just because he was currently reading it and found it interesting.  With bullshit like common core and teaching for test results I don't think something like that is possible any longer?

Anyhow I'm been getting tired of the daily grinding and been thinking about taking a break next spring and finish my degree and (god-forbid...) maybe trying to get a job for so I can just grind part-time online like I used to with bitcoin creating a mini-revival off-shore.  I heard as long as you can pass the all mighty tests, once you have an education degree you can get re-certified in any field?  I was thinking about maybe Middle School math might be more my speed...

Any thoughts before you exit stage left?

My degree is actually in secondary education/social studies.  Taught in the classroom for the good first half of my career.  Whether it was enjoyable or not completely depended on the school and administration.  With me, it got to the point where I absolutely hated it.  When a kid can tell you fuck off to your face, then be right back in your classroom later that day?  It's impossible to teach kids effectively.

I honestly will never go back to teaching.  I'd be a cashier at Circle K before going back to that.  I'm in administration now and it's a better gig.  But you still have to put up with a lot of bullshit.  I used to babysit kids.  Now I babysit adults and listen to parents bitch all day.

As far as your last question goes, it depends on the state.  In AZ, you could not teach math at the middle school level unless you had at least 30 hours (I believe) of math courses.  In which case, you could qualify to have math put on your teaching certificate.  That is unless you can get an emergency short term certification with it.  I actually taught 7/8 math for a year one year with an emergency cert.  I think it's even more common now since math and science teachers are in high demand.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have.  Good luck pal.
