Here in the Deep South of USA (below the Mason-Dixon line), drug possession arrest rates for people of color are easily 2 to sometimes 3x the rates for proportional populations of whites.

 

Going further, actual conviction rates are at least 3x and sentences of actual imprisonment are close to 5x between people of color and whites.

 

The US War on Drugs is inarguably the most racist public policy since Jim Crow. Fortunately, increased awareness of the true data lends hope that such horrific disparities can be lessened in coming years, though as noted - here in the Deep South none of us are laying any chalk on such progress
